Not so much for me with the reading
Rusty punched me in the gut today, rhetorically speaking, when he mentioned that he had only read 4 books all year. I think I've only read three. I read lots of news, write (well, on this blog, I'm finally writing on a daily basis), and I consider myself fairly in tune with what is going on in the world.
But I used to read a whole lot more books than I do now. I mentioned in a comment on Rusty's post that I really haven't even finished the third book, Michner's Alaska, and I'm barely half way through it. What has happened to me.
I'm with ya, Rusty. Two books a month this year sounds like no problem, and it should be a lot easier than training for the marathon I resolved to do last year. Lets keep track of it on our blogs so we can bitch at each other when we don't see finished books. We can write a little review of each book, that way we can keep track of it. What do ya say, Rusty? Anyone else wanna join in?

Technically, I said "six or seven" books, but either way it wasn't enough. I'm down with writing little reviews and keeping on each other's tails about it. Since I didn't start Tom Wolfe's "I am Charlotte Simmons" until Dec. 26, I'm counting that as my first January book. :) Feel free to do the same if you want to start one now.

I'm cool with that... If you don't mind me counting the last 500 pages I have in 'Alaska' as my first one.
Sounds like a plan. Sorry I short changed you on your '04 count.

All the Michener stuff is thick, so, yeah, definitely count that.

Since graduating college I've read a ton of books. Not being "forced" to read them for classes has lead me to resdicover my love for the leisurely read, even if the boks are exceedingly dense, mlti-dimensional, or historical in nature.
But alas be careful my good Dylan. Spending so much time reading books has lead me to read less periodicals, the editorial nutrients I need in order to keep up with you in political debates. If you're not careful, your rediscovered book fetish will soon lead you to become a mildly less-informed conservative!! Balance is the key my friend.

Mark, someone just left a similar comment over on Rusty's blog. I'm determined to take my reading time out of some other activity (like tv watching, probably).
Besides, I'm convinced that increased reading will always lead one to be more liberal! :)
